WEBER COUNTY, Utah – Residents in Weber County have been told to be on high alert after a rash of burglaries in the Roy, West Haven and Hooper areas.
Police say at least 30 cars and homes have been broken into in the last month.
The Weber County Sheriff’s Office says thieves are targeting unlocked garages and vehicles, and the sheriff’s office said the incidents are “crimes of opportunity.”
Andy Strahan says he left the workshop behind his West Haven home unlocked last week, and thieves struck. He had thousands of dollars in tools stolen from the workshop.
“Back in my tool room you can see where all the things on the shelf are on boxes,” Strahan said. “There was a pipe beveling machine similar to this, one of those missing, the two welders missing, two drill boxes.”
